10n Art Studio is a space for painting and the exploration of colour.
Painting is at its centre. Research grows from the questions that painting creates.
The Journey
The journey began with learning from and reproducing the work of other artists.
Over time, the interest shifted from getting things right to making independent choices — and learning from the mistakes that came with them.
The question slowly changed from how should this be painted? to what is actually happening here?
Colour became a particular fascination.
The Research
Why do some colours seem connected while others feel separate? What happens when hue changes but value remains similar? How do value and chroma affect the relationship between colours?
These were practical questions encountered while painting.
There was no intention to invent a colour system. But the questions persisted, gradually becoming an investigation of Hue, Value and Chroma.
The Result — 10n HVC
10n HVC emerged from that investigation.
It is a framework for understanding colour through the relationships between Hue, Value and Chroma, developed through painting, observation and experimentation.
The system did not come first. The painting did.
Questions led to experiments.
Patterns emerged.
Those patterns became 10n HVC.
And the investigation continues.
